
After the success of the 3rd humanitarian convoy, Viva Palestina (VP) is planning to co-ordinate similar initiatives that may be launched in the next 12 months, said Kevin Ovenden, one of the organizers of the Caravan of Peace. It left London on 6th December to arrive in Gaza one month later.

Friday 8th January
The leader of the Viva Palestina convoy, George Galloway, was officially deported from Cairo today, when Egyptian plain-clothes police officers forced him onto a plane to London. The cargo ferry arrived at Al-Areesh early this morning and all the vehicles have passed through the customs successfully. The whole convoy has lined up between Turkey and Syria for the border crossing that was really smooth. The activists were given lots of red roses as they passed through the streets. The vans are now driving to Damascus which is 500km away.

The second aid convoy of Viva Palestina is departing London on Sunday 6th December 2009.
The convoy, named The Return to Gaza, will leave from Embankment, between Westminster Bridge and Hungerford Bridge. It will be assembling at 10 am and will be led by MP George Galloway, originator of the initiative.
